A Word From The Guru

A word for young aspirants - Voice Culture is important, I do a lot of humming exercise before concerts. One should not abuse one another. No Shouting. Speak as less as you can. Grap a nap whenever you can for sleep gives voice rest. Concentrate on physical fitnesstoo. Practise and listen to yesteryear and contemporary musicians.

Her most prided award which was given to Shrimathi Yamuna Aarumugam by Tanjore Maharaja Bonsle Chakravathy in 2009.


First Music Convention

The First Music Convention was held in Malaysia in 2008. Shrimathi Yamuna said it was her long awaiting dream come true She said music runs in her blood as she had grown in a musically inclined, orthodox religious, culture and a loving environment.


She feels that this kind of environment is missing among our Malaysian Indian Families.


Sangeetha Isai Kali Vaani Award

Shrimathi Yamuna Aarumugam was awarded the Sangeetha Isai Kalai Vaani Award in 2005 by the Sangeethalaya. She being the youngest ever artiste to receive such a prestigious award is surely a feather in her cap. Today she occupies an important place in Carnatic Music's hierarchy and makes bold to becoming, along with an exclusive band of colleagues in the profession to be reckoned with and remembered welll into the next millenium

This award was presented by the President of India L. Venketaraman Iyer while performing in Rashrapathy Bhavan New Delhi with her most beloved guru the great legend the late Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr M. L. Vasantha Kumar fondly known as M.L.V. Amma December 1988. Shrimathi Yamuna said it was like walking down memory lane as thinks about it
